It can look like a freckle, a fleck of dirt, or a poppy seed on your skin. But the tick on the left is what a blacklegged (deer) tick looks like. The ticks on the right are dog ticks. (To be clear, dog ticks can infect too, but with other diseases.)
Lyme-carrying ticks have been found in Winnipeg the past couple of years.
Monday, May 30th at 1:30pm CT, I’ll be joined in-studio by people suffering with Lyme Disease, a doctor and a vet who have so much information to share about Lyme … How it affects you and how it is probably scarier than you think. At one time I thought this may have been fear-mongering, after having people with Lyme share their stories with you on my show a few weeks back, I realize how frightening this can be and how much more we need to learn to protect ourselves.
And please, please … If you have a dog, don’t just get the medication with tick repellent. That just makes the tick leave to dog in search of another host – possibly you. Please pay the extra money to get the medication that kills the ticks. And go ahead and share this post, so you can help others identify the Lyme carrying ticks as well.
