WINNIPEG- The blood suckers are on their way.
Due to the large amount of rain over the last two weeks, mosquitoes have hatched in high numbers in standing water.
Superintendent of Insect Control Ken Nawolsky says we will begin to see the skeeters in the next week.
“The insect control branch is continuing to use all its resources, to check, monitor and treat all the approximately 31,000 hectares of potential larval development sites in Winnipeg and the surrounding 10 kilometres to reduce the emergence of adult nuisance mosquitoes,” said Nawolsky.
The city’s most recent mosquito trap count was zero.
Meanwhile, spraying continues tonight for Forest Tent Caterpillars.
Crews will be out in the Tuxedo Industrial, Lindenwood, River East areas starting at 9:30.
