Community members and police officers partnered to clean up parts of the North End today.
It’s all part of the Restore Our Core weekend, where once a year locals head to the streets to clean up their neighbourhood.
“It takes a big effort from everyone,” says organizor Champion-Taylor, “So when you have a lot of people and city departments you see that people care about the community.”
Groups are focused on the areas of William Whyte, Dufferin, and Turtle Island.
Winnipeg Police Chief Devon Clunis was a special guest speaker and said the cleanup is a great way for police to connect with people living there.
Over 200 people turned out for the cleanup and volunteers covered over 100 blocks of the city.
