WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police have laid sexual assault charges against a osteopathic therapist after a patient complained to police.
Investigators say the 25 year old woman came to them in April reporting several incidents that had occurred since February.
It’s alleged the victim, while receiving therapy at a clinic in Osborne Village was inappropriately touched and sexually assaulted by the 49 year old man.
“I don’t believe this individual was licensed and whether he is required to be licensed in any way is not to my knowledge, but was performing a form of therapy,” said Const. Jason Michalyshen.
The Sex Crimes Unit arrested the man on Thursday and charged him with sexual assault.
“Clearly the bounds of what he was requested to do, he overstepped those bounds clearly with respect to the inappropriate conduct with our victim,” said Michalyshen.
He was released on a promise to appear in court.
Police are asking anyone with further information regarding this investigation to contact investigators at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
