Winnipeg’s police chief has sat in on his last police board meeting.
Outgoing chief Devon Clunis went through the agenda one last time ahead of his retirement this summer.
His last day is July 9th. After that Deputy Chief Art Stannard will serve as acting chief until a full time replacement is found. The board made that appointment official on Friday.
Meanwhile, Winnipeg Police are looking into a strategy on dealing with increased numbers of non emergency calls.
Chief Clunis told the police board that many calls are not police or crime related and can hurt response times.
He says a report is coming on better ways to manage the non-emergency call volumes.
