WINNIPEG – It’s good news for home sellers.
Winnipeg Realtors says overall dollar-volume for MLS sales set a monthly record with $460 million in May.
The number of sales surpassed 1,600 for only the third time in the group’s 113-year history.
Realtors’ Peter Squire says it is good news, especially for the condo market.
“May is our busiest month, but having said that, it was an excellent month in all property types, not even just single family homes, but condos have really come back from a poor start last year,” he said.
Another sign of a good market – the number of days homes sat for sale decreased.
“It was down to 23 days in May, and that’s getting back to where we were again a few years ago, we were just three weeks. And we were up to 30 (days) in some months,” he said.
He says we are seeing some multiple offer situations, but not the bidding wars we saw over homes a few years ago.
