People are still some kinda ticked off about this weekend’s air show (or rather no show) in Portage la Prairie. After speaking with one of the organizers this morning, it would appear “they” were completely caught off guard with the number of people who decided to attend. It was the “walk up” crowd that surprised them. I find that funny as Winnipeg/southern Manitoba is ALWAYS a walk up crowd. Problems aside however, it got me to thinking about how long you would wait for anything/anyone? Many people talked about waiting for 3 or 4 hours to try and get into the air show. What????? I can’t imagine waiting that long for anything! There have only been two occasions where I’ve waited for over an hour to see someone, and coincidentally one of them was sadly making news this weekend. Back in 1976, I was in Washington D.C. with my parents (Dad had a conference) and we waited for 90 mins to see Muhammed Ali. The second time was also on family vacation, this time in Maui. Wolfman Jack was DJ’ing at a club and I was determined to see him. The wait was again 90 minutes.
I wonder, what or who would you wait 3-4 hours for? Or have you (air show aside) ever waited that long? I’d love to hear your stories and whether or not it was worth the wait !
