WINNIPEG – It’s a step forward on the road to an underpass at Waverley and Taylor.
City hall’s property committee has given the green light to a plan that would see the city acquire several plots of landed needed to begin construction.
There are about fifteen properties in the area the city needs to get its hands on.
Manager of Real Estate John Zabudney says they’re open to negotiating with property owners, but they need the land ASAP.
“The title is critical at this point in time to proceed with this project. The city is in a position where it can’t afford any delays.”
The plan includes wiping out parking lots at Piazza de Nardi and the Reh-Fit Centre.
The underpass is slated to cost over $150-million. If it stays on schedule, construction is expected to begin next year.
