A rally was held outside the Government of Canada building on Broadway Wednesday to draw attention to the state of collective bargaining under the new Trudeau Government.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) calls the way Ottawa negotiates contracts is quite similar to the Harper Conservatives.
“We don’t want a conservative mandate we want their (The Liberals) mandate, so they need to change their mandate and come to the table and negotiate a fair and equitable agreement,” said PSAC president Robyn Benson.
Representatives for workers with the Treasury Board, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and Parks will be at the bargaining table in the coming weeks.
“We’re open to dialogue with them,” said Benson.
“That’s why you go into negotiations and you want it to be give-and-take, we understand that, but when you come to the table with what was there before, that’s not a change.”
