WINNIPEG – Thousands of Winnipeggers are eligible to vote in Saturday’s by-election to fill three School Trustee vacancies.
There is an opening in one ward for Louis Riel, River East Transcona and St. James – Assiniboia School Divisions.
Two are the vacancies are due to Scott Johnston and Colleen Mayer being elected as MLA’s in St. James and St. Vital, respectively. The other vacancy comes after the School Trustee moved out of the division.
“We mailed out voter notices to each of the 47,937 voters that are eligible to vote in these three wards,” said Marc Lemoine with the City of Winnipeg who adds there are 15 candidates between the three ridings.
There are ten polling stations around Winnipeg that will open Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and stay open until 8 p.m.
