Ground has been broken on another big hotel in Winnipeg, this time a Hilton Garden Inn on Sterling Lyon Parkway.
The $35-million hotel will be built at the northwest corner of Sterling Lyon and Kenaston, with the plan to open it next year.
The 86,000 square foot, six-storey hotel will include 127 rooms, a beer vendor, indoor pool, bar, patios and meeting space.
President and CEO of the Manitoba Hotel Association Scott Jocelyn says this will have a positive impact for Winnipeg.
“It’s great to see somebody investing in the community. Hotels are important, hotels matter, we can make a big difference if they exist and this is an exciting opportunity.”
SK Developments, which will manage the hotel, claims it will create up to 150 jobs.
It will go up on the SEASONS site, which is slated to be a large scale mixed-use development, featuring the Hilton Garden Inn as well as the new outlet mall.
