Winnipeg – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers reduced their roster to the league mandated 65 by 11 p.m. CDT on Tuesday Night by releasing a half dozen players. The most notable cuts are Defensive Lineman Nate Collins and Receiver Kevin Cone.
Collins, who also has NFL experience with the Jacksoville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, had eight defensive tackles and one quarterback sack in 5 games for the Blue Bombers in 2015. Cone was on the roster for the October 3rd, 24-23 home loss to Edmonton in Week 15.
The other four players released are Defensive Backs Johnny Patrick and Donald Celiscar along with Defensive Lineman Andrew Robinson and Offensive Lineman Aundrey Walker.
The Blue Bombers also placed veteran center Jeff Keeping, second year receiver Addison Richards, and Linebacker Kyle Knox on the 6 game injured list.
Keeping suffered a leg injury and Richards hurt his hand in the 36-13 exhibition win over Montreal while Knox injured his leg during week two of training camp.
The Blue Bombers now have until Sunday to get their numbers down to the 46 who will start the season on the active roster, as well as another 7 on the practice roster.
