The City of Winnipeg has approved the purchase of a parcel of land from Manitoba Hydro for some $19 million dollars in order to complete the second leg of the southwest transitway.
I spoke with two city councilors who are on different sides of the issue. Jeff Browaty doesn’t like bus rapid transit but voted to approve the land deal while Shawn Dobson voted against the purchase. Here are those conversations.
The provincial government has introduced new legislation that would require a secret ballot for all union certification in Manitoba. This would bring Manitoba in line with most Canadian provinces but the unions are upset about it. Here’s Frank Wright of UNIFOR making the case against the secret ballot.
