WINNIPEG – Devin Hall’s Murder trial is wrapping up for the week.
He’s charged with the shooting at a Pembina Highway Salisbury House in 2012 that killed 23-year-old Jeffrey Lau.
The Crown is trying to connect Hall, 30, to a Lincoln sedan that witnesses saw drive away from the restaurant after the shooting.
They say documents show It was rented from a local company around the time of the shooting by another man, with Hall listed as a designated authorized driver.
An employee from the car rental company testified an authorized driver would have to be present and show their drivers license in order to be approved.
The defense argued there is no cameras inside the rental location and no way to verify that Hall was actually there.
A police officer testified the other man named on the rental agreement is known to police, but his description doesn’t match the person seen on video footage entering the restaurant.
The trial resumes on Monday with the Crown expected to wrap up its case early in the week.
