London Mayor Matt Brown has returned to work one week after his affair scandal with the deputy Mayor Maureen Cassidy was discovered.
Brown announced his return at a news conference, with his church minister standing by his side. The mayor says he won’t resign, despite the many calls for him to do so. And the Municipal Act that rules Ontario’s municipal governments has no requirements that could make him resign either.
At his news conference yesterday, Brown said, “My wife was furious when she learned about this and I’m working very hard to repair the damage that I’ve caused.”
So I ask you: Would you support a mayor or political leader who had an affair? And do you think the London mayor can effectively do his job now? Taking your texts and calls after 1pm: 204.780.6868.
