WINNIPEG – Those participating in the Steinbach Pride parade will now be able to march on the street, not just the sidewalk.
RCMP originally told organizers they would have to stick to the sidewalk because a lane on part of the route was under construction.
But Michelle McHale, the spokesperson for Steinbach Pride, says on Facebook they’ve made a change to the route because of overwhelming response to the march.
And now they’ve been granted street access. McHale says the RCMP negotiated it with the city on the organization’s behalf.
One of the first things the new commanding officer of the RCMP in Manitoba did was announce he would be marching in the parade.
