WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets have a new assistant coach.
The NHL club has hired Jamie Kompon to replace Pascal Vincent, who has taken the bench boss job for the Manitoba Moose.
Kompon heads to Winnipeg after a stint as coach and general manager of the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks.
A Thunder Bay native, Kompon is a two time Stanley Cup champion as an assistant coach with both Los Angeles (2012) and Chicago (2013).
He joins fellow assistant coach Charlie Huddy, goaltender coach Wade Flaherty and video coach Matt Prefontaine on a staff led by head coach Paul Maurice.
