It was a safe Canada Day celebration this year according to Winnipeg Police, who say there were no serious incidents during the festivities last night.
This stands in contrast to the last two years. On Canada Day last year, three people were stabbed during a gang fight in downtown Winnipeg, while a teenager was slashed by a machete at The Forks.
On July 1, 2014, one person was stabbed to death while another was shot dead. Both of these incidents also took place downtown.
