WINNIPEG – It’s time to see how well the new electronic fare system for Winnipeg Transit really works.
The new re-loadable cards officially go on sale, Monday. They are available for five dollars at 7-Eleven and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Only seniors will be able to use the cards right now as they are phased in over the summer. Adults and youth can use the cards to pay their fares on August 8th.
The cards, called Peggo, are intended to replace tickets but the city says you can still use your remaining tickets. You will still be allowed to use cash to pay fares, under the new system.
For a limited time, if you buy the card and use it within 90 days, the $5 fee to buy the card will be refunded on to your card.
