City Councillor Scott Gillingham wants a more detailed breakdown of how city employees earn their money.
Gillingham will introduce a motion at City Hall on Wednesday that calls for an expansion of compensation breakdowns for all city staff.
The motion also calls for the full disclosure of employment contract details at the time when the contracts are signed by workers of the City of Winnipeg.
“I believe disclosure is critical to the public having confidence in government,” said Gillingham in a statement. “Accountability is directly tied to transparency and the citizens of Winnipeg have the right to know how public funds are being spent, including how public employees are being compensated.”
Questions arose when the city’s 2015 compensation records were released. Ex-CAO Deepak Joshi banked more than half a million dollars last year.
Councillor Janice Lukes will also be supporting the motion.
