WINNIPEG – A soggy ending for a stolen pick up truck that ended up in the Red River this morning.
Police say a 17-year-old boy is facing charges after allegedly stealing it and then taking off when officers tried to stop him.
Constable Jason Michalyshen says it’s still unclear how the truck wound up in the water.
“Whether he abandoned the vehicle, put it in drive and just allowed the vehicle to go into the river on it’s own, whether it was in neutral,” said Michalyshen.
There was a short pursuit, with the truck reaching speeds around 100 kilometres an hour.
The canine unit arrested the boy along the riverbank.
He remains in custody.
