WINNIPEG – An arrest has been made in a homicide investigation that shut down a good chunk of Downtown Winnipeg early last week.
A man was found badly beaten at Portage and Donald shortly before 4am on Tuesday July 5th. He died soon after. He was identified as 26 year old Cyril Weenusk (pictured) from Oxford House.
Police charged a suspect on Friday — turns out he was being detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre on unrelated charges.
Twenty-two year old Geordie Douglas Wood from St. Theresa Point has been charged with second degree murder.
St. Theresa Point is 475 km northeast of Winnipeg, Oxford House is 575 km northeast of Winnipeg.
