Three men from Montreal are facing fraud charges for allegedly buying cellphones with phony ID’s and credit cards.
Winnipeg Police say the men hit several businesses at St. Vital Centre on Monday. The businesses involved in the scam were suspicious of the purchases and called the cops.
On Tuesday, Emmanuel Kwakwah, 31, Kofi Owusu, 28, and Allan Lochard, 19, were all cuffed and charged with a number of offences including five counts each of Fraud Under $5,000.
They remain in police custody.
Investigators believe they racked up $7,000 in purchases, but say other businesses at different malls could have been hit as well.
