Winnipeg – The Jets have announced the signing of Forward Jack Roslovic to a three year, two way entry level contract worth an average annual value of 1.1375 million dollars. Already this off-season the Jets have inked Kyle Connor, the 17th pick in last year’s draft, and Patrik Laine who was selected 2nd overall in the 2016 draft.
Roslovic is just 19 and completed his freshmen season at the University of Miami (Ohio) after being selected 25th overall by Winnipeg in 2015, a pick obtained by the Jets as part of the February 11/15 trade with Buffalo.
In 36 NCAA games, the 6-0, 182 pound right winger from Columbus scored 10 goals and added 16 assists for 26 points.
There had been rumblings Roslovic was “contemplating” the idea of not returning to the collegiate ranks with the Redhawks. And those rumors heated up when his OHL rights were obtained by the Memorial Cup Champion London Knights.
Roslovic had an outstanding development camp performance earlier this month at the Iceplex, highlighted by a 2 goal – 2 assist performance in a wide open and entertaining scrimmage on Day Three of the Camp.
Even though Roslovic is only 19, he could still be assigned to the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose if he doesn’t make the NHL roster. A player who has not played in the CHL for a major junior team is eligible to play in the AHL.
