KUWAIT – Turkey is quickly becoming too hot too handle for a lot of people.
Canadian Breanna Harford teaches in Kuwait and was planning to head to the Turkish city of Ankar to teach English.
Then the coup attempt happened this weekend.
She tells 680 CJOB she has cancelled her plans to move to Turkey, saying she just can’t put her family through the worry.
“I was really excited about it, and then since I’d been there, there have been two attacks and a coup. It would just be really concerning for me and for family and friends if I were to follow through and go.”
Harford confirms that the coup was the last straw.
Meanwhile 41 military generals and admirals have been ordered to be jailed in Turkey for their role in the failed coup. US Secretary of State John Kerry warns that Turkey has to uphold human rights standards and democracy as a NATO member.
