WINNIPEG – Officers have been combing a back lane in St. Vital after a report of shots fired this morning.
Evidence markers are set up in a back lane running parallel to St. Mary’s Road just north of Fermor.
At one end, markers are set up beside what appear to be shell casings.
Dan Odinson lives across the lane and says he was watching TV in his basement when he heard the bangs.
“If you’ve ever taken two wooden boards and slapped them together really hard, a really loud, crisp clap. Heard four of those in brief succession.”
At first Odinson said he thought it may have been a nail gun at a local construction site but then he saw the shells on the ground.
At the other end, officers have been meticulously looking at every inch of a fence and through the grass.
Police have not released any further details.
