EASTERVILLE – RCMP can thank social media for bringing a disturbing case of animal abuse to their attention.
A video, posted online, shows someone throwing a German Shepherd puppy up in the air and letting it hit the ground. He then walks away. The dog can be heard yelping.
On Wednesday morning, an 18-year-old man from Easterville, Manitoba was arrested but has yet to be charged with anything.
The pup was found alive, but injured. The dog, named Asha, arrived at the Winnipeg Animal Emergency Hospital last night.
In a Facebook post, Manitoba Underdogs Rescue says she’s in good spirits, but still won’t walk. She will be assessed more today.
Foster Coordinator Desiree Klippenstein says she had to turn the video off once she started watching.
“It’s disheartening and it’s sickening that we live in today’s world and we still see situations happening that are like this,” she said.
The rescue is collecting donations for her treatment at www.manitobaunderdogs.org/donate and at the Dakota Veterinary Hospital.
