WINNIPEG – For the second straight night, the Winnipeg Goldeyes walked off the Kansas City T-Bones.
Carlton Tanabe finished off a three-run rally with a game-winning single as the Fish got a 5-4 win at Shaw Park.
After the teams combined for 31 runs Friday night, the Fish struggled to get the bats going for the majority of the game.
Down 4-2 going to the bottom of the ninth, the rally began. After consecutive walks to start the inning, Reggie Abercrombie drove in his third run of the game to cut the lead in half.
A sacrifice bunt and intentional walk loaded the bases, and a full-count walk brought in the tying run before Tanabe won it with a single to centre.
The Fish have now won three straight to take sole possession of first place in the wild card standings. The series with the T-Bones wraps up at 1 p.m. at Shaw Park.
