WINNIPEG – His credit card is melted, but a Regina man is heading home from Winnipeg happy.
Kerry Rodgers has now been to the Tragically Hip’s first eight shows of its farewell tour.
He tells 680 CJOB each one has been different and lead singer, Gord Downie, has been amazing despite fighting terminal brain cancer.
Rodgers is proud to call The Hip is favourite band.
“There’s no other band that’s been as Canadian as this band and didn’t sell out and was sort of like a voice for Canada,” said Rodgers.
Rodgers says he’s met Hip fans from all over the world at the shows he’s seen from BC through to Winnipeg.
“The Hip nation from all over the world has been coming together. I met people that had flown in from Amsterdam and Sweden and a guy that drove from Buffalo to Vancouver just to see one show. Hardcore fans coming together to say goodbye to a legend.”
The band’s last show, August 20th, will be broadcast live at Assiniboine Park from their hometown of Kingston, Ontario.
