BOISSEVAIN – There will be a new structure to recognize the symbol of peace between Canada and America.
In a competition, six architectural firms submitted their designs to replace the current Peace Tower at the International Peace Garden in Turtle Mountain National Park.
Architect Brett Bellamy tells 680 CJOB GPP Architecture of Winnipeg submitted the winning design.
“The symbolism is that two countries coming together as one and achieving greatness in that way. It becomes optimistic representation in the sky.”
Bellamy says the current peace tower will be demolished, because of structural issues.
A construction date for the new structure hasn’t been set.
