WINNIPEG – He did countless autopsies on murder victims and ordered a number of high profile inquests in our province.
Now Manitoba’s Chief Medical Examiner is retiring.
Dr. Thambirajah Balachandra has stepped aside after nearly 20 years in charge.
During his time, he testified in court about the cause of death in many of our most infamous criminal cases.
He also ordered the inquest into the death of double amputee Brian Sinclair, who sat 34 hours in the waiting room at HSC.
Balachandra will be replaced by his former deputy Dr. John Younes.
