WINNIPEG- The city’s next mosquito fogging program begins this Sunday.
Trucks will be out starting at 9:30 p.m. Sunday night and will fog until 6:30 a.m. Monday morning as long as the weather cooperates.
Ken Nowalsky, the head of the city’s Insect Control Branch, says that crews will target the areas that have the highest mosquito populations, with an emphasis on the northwest and southwest parts of the city.
Nowalsky also added that the city will be permitted to use their 2009 stock of the malathion chemical to fight off the bugs after it passed all Health Canada standards.
Health Canada had previously stated that the chemical was too old to use.
