Winnipeg’s Filipino community’s annual celebration finds a new home downtown.
Thousands will fill the core today celebrating culture and traditions.
Chairman of the 5th annual Manitoba Filipino Street Festival, Aida Champagne tells 680 CJOB, its popularity triggered the move from Garden City.
“We want to try a much bigger place, because the festival is growing year after year. Also, Downtown Biz encouraged us to have it downtown.”
A parade rolls out at 9 a.m. Saturday morning beginning on Memorial Boulevard between Broadway and York.
Streets closures will be in place until midnight on Saturday.
