WINNIPEG – Have a cat or dog in Winnipeg, but haven’t got it licensed?
For the next month, the city is giving you a chance to get one without having to pay penalties for not already having one.
All dogs and cats older than six months need a license. A cat license will cost you $15 (if sterilized) or $50 (if intact) per year. A dog license will cost you $36 (if sterilized) and $71 (if not sterilized).
The pet license amnesty period starts today and runs through September.
Starting October 1, if you don’t have one, you will get slapped with a $250 fine.
And if your unlicensed pet is taken in by animal services, you are responsible for impound and boarding fees.
