Winnipeg – Two time Olympic Bronze Medalist Desiree Scott is winging her way home from Rio de Janeiro to Winnipeg where she is expected to arrive at about 10 a.m. CDT on Tuesday Morning.
Scott and her team mates became the first Canadian Women’s team to medal in back to back Summer Olympics when they defeated Brazil 2-1 last Friday in Sao Paulo.
Just before boarding her flight, Scott told 680 CJOB she was excited to get back to Winnipeg and share her success with family, friends, and all her hometown supporters.
“The support has been phenomenal and I always love coming home. Everyone knows that about me. I’m a proud Winnipegger, so I’m excited to see everybody.”
Scott says after the grind of getting prepared for the Olympics, she’ll be happy to spend a little down time at home before heading back to FC Kansas City where she’ll finish off her season in the National Women’s Soccer League in late September.
“I wanna share in this moment and soak it up as much as I can,” said Scott on Monday Afternoon. “I’m just going to take a little break in the fall and then see where it goes from the New Year.”
