The union representing workers at Canada Post have seemingly had enough and issued a 72-hour strike notice late Thursday afternoon.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the post office have been at odds at the bargaining table for more than nine months.
They are not seeing eye-to-eye on key issues such as pay equity for rural carriers and planned changes to their pension.
CUPW’s strike mandate was set to expire at midnight Thursday.
Union boss Mike Palacek is putting the blame on Canada Post saying they refused to accept a request from the federal labour minister to continue negotiations with the help of a special mediator.
But, the post office has denied that claim.
