OTTAWA – There will be no job action from Canada Post employees today.
The post office and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have agreed to a 24-hour extension of their talks.
There was a deadline of midnight last night, at which point CUP-W threatened a rolling overtime ban if no agreement was reached.
But that threat was stayed after both sides agreed to a federally appointed mediator’s request for the 24-hour extension to the talks.
The two sides have been fighting for nine months over things like pay scales for rural letter carriers and proposed pension changes.
