WINNIPEG – The city is making changes to our street parking bylaws.
The new system starts tomorrow morning.
One of the big highlights: you can now park for longer than the usual maximum of two hours in a spot.
Colin Stewart from Winnipeg Parking Authority says they’ve listened to feedback from drivers.
“They were getting back to their car, just a little too late after their time had expired. We have to balance the need to generate turnover on the street so that people can find short-term parking with that concern that motorists raise with us.”
You will now be able to add an extra half hour once the two hours is up. The catch is you’ll have to move your car to a totally different block once time expires.
The city will also now offer parking permits for RVs. Right now they can’t be on the street for more than an hour. A permit would let you park one for up to three days in some spots.
