WINNIPEG – It’s been more than two weeks since Christine Wood went missing.
The 21-year-old was last seen in the Polo Park area August 19. She had gone out for the night but never returned to her hotel.
She came with her family from Oxford House First Nation for a medical appointment in the city. They were going to head home the next day but then Christine went missing.
Christy Dzikowicz with the Canadian Centre for Child Protection says going off and not coming back is very unlike Christine.
“This is a girl who would communicate with her mother on a daily basis. Certainly she’s 21, she has freedom, she’s an adult, and I think a lot of people hear that she’s 21 and think, ‘Well, she’s just out and about.’ Any of us who are parents know your kids and usually your instincts are bang on, and that’s something that we really need to listen to here.”
Dzikowicz says Christine knows people in Winnipeg, having attended uWinnipeg and is also known to visit Osborne Village.
“For folks who do know Christine or who may have had contact with her, don’t assume police already know that. Come forward, share any piece of information no matter how big or small. It could be very, very important for this family.”
Anyone who may know anything about Wood’s possible whereabouts is asked to contact police at 204-986-6250.
