WINNIPEG – For a lot of the summer, it felt like we were getting a lot of rain.
At one point, we had received 30 per cent more rain than usual.
But August was more dry, and now we see the rainfall total to date is not much above the norm.
“We had 237.5 millimetres of rain, the normal is 235 millimetres. That’s pretty much right spot on,” explains 680 CJOB weather specialist John Wilson. “Temperatures were pretty normal, too.”
Wilson points out that our wet start to summer makes it seem like we got more rain than we did.
“It seems wet because June was 122 per cent normal precip, then July comes in wet at 117 per cent normal. It was August that was actually the drier one, 69 per cent normal. It kind of evened things out, but obviously this past weekend we’re back to wet weather again.”
Now, there are technically still a couple weeks left in summer to further surpass that total. This week calls for cloudy skies and the occasional shower.
