GATINEAU – CRTC hearings open this week into the new, trimmed-down $25 cable packages.
The broadcast regulator and the four biggest television service providers could get an earful on the rollout of so-called skinny-basic TV.
Tech expert David Papp tells 680 CJBO hundreds of complaints were filed in the weeks after the CRTC mandated the packages in March.
“Once you’ve custom-tailored your package, you’re paying more than what you’re paying on any of the package prices that are offered right now. A lot of people are wanting to go back to their original pricing.”
The Consumers’ Association of Canada says the CRTC must take responsibility for failing to give clear guidelines to cable and satellite companies for what it considered an acceptable pricing model.
