WINNIPEG – After getting shutout in game one of the playoffs, it didn’t take long for the Winnipeg Goldeyes to get the bats going in game two.
The Fish scored six in the first and then hung on for dear life, emerging with a 9-7 win to even their American Association semifinal series with St. Paul at a game apiece.
The offence went quiet again until the fifth, after which the Goldeyes led 8-3.
But the Saints wouldn’t go quietly. A run in the sixth and three in the eighth had a packed house at Shaw Park getting nervous.
The Goldeyes would get an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth and Winston Abreu locked down the save to even the series.
The remaining games will all be played at CHS Field in St. Paul, starting with game three tonight at 7:05.
