WINNIPEG – It’s a startling statistic. One in nine people in Manitoba are affected by kidney disease.
That means the province has one of the highest rates in the country.
Kidney Foundation’s Val Dunphy tells 680 CJOB what needs to be done.
“We need more prevention and we need more programs as more and more are diagnosed in our province,” said Dunphy.
She adds there also needs to be more research as the only treatments are dialysis or transplants.
The local foundation held its largest fundraiser of the year at St. Vital Park today.
