WINNIPEG – If your daily commute has you regularly waiting for trains on Marion Street near Archibald, get used to it.
A study has found that building an underpass would cost at least $566 million.
St. Boniface city councillor Matt Allard tells 680 CJOB, that’s too rich for City Hall’s blood.
“It might actually be more than that because that’s a class four estimate,” says Allard. “Class four estimates can go up as much as 60 percent. In a worst case… that would mean over $900 million.”
The report, which will be delivered to the city next week, recommends looking for a more affordable design option to ease traffic on the road.
Plans for an overpass or underpass along Marion Street date back to 1974.
