WINNIPEG – A rash of break-ins and robberies near the university has landed eight people behind bars.
The suspects started breaking into garages and homes on Pembina Highway on September 15th, but police say the bulk of the 13 properties involved were victimized the night of the 19th.
There were also two armed assaults: the first involved scissors and a chain, the other a knife and a chain.
The two victims both had their cellphones stolen. One suffered some non-life-threatening upper-body injuries, the other was not hurt.
With the help of the canine unit and the Air-1 chopper, the suspects were arrested early on the 20th.
Christopher Holomay, 20, and Dillon Campbell, 18, along with three teen boys and three teen girls face 75 separate charges. The six youths are between the ages of 14 and 16. Police say the suspects are all known to police.
