WINNIPEG – For the first time, Winnipeg Police are admitting a young woman who’s been missing for weeks may have been hanging around with some dangerous people.
Twenty one year old Christine Wood was last seen on August 19th.
She was in town from Oxford House and staying with her family.
Inspector Kelly Dennison says they are concerned for her safety because some of the people she associates with may have ties to the drug trade.
“Please let me be very clear, we’re not saying that Christine is leading that lifestyle,” says Dennison. “What we’re suggesting is that maybe some of the individuals that’s she’s associated with or that may know her whereabouts are the ones leading a higher risk lifestyle.”
Dennison says they’re going through tips from the public and have spoken to some persons of interest.
He wouldn’t speculate about whether Wood was in danger or had just run away.
