Winnipeg – The Winnipeg Jets made it back to back wins on home ice by hammering the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 Friday Night to improve to 2-1 in NHL Pre season play.
Mark Scheifele scored once and set up three other goals as Winnipeg went 4/5 on the power play in a sometimes chippy affair. Jets Captain Blake Wheeler added 3 assists and rookie Kyle Connor, the third member of that line, scored for the second time in as many games.
Adam Lowry, Joel Armia, and Toby Enstrom also scored for the Jets who led 2-0 and 3-1 at the period breaks.
Defenceman Dustin Byfuglien left the game in the second period after taking a slapshot on the foot. Acting Head Coach Jamie Kompon said afterwards that Byfuglien was kept out for “precautionary” reasons.
Michael Hutchinson went the distance in goal and made 33 saves for Winnipeg who continue their exhibition schedule with a visit to Calgary Sunday Night.
