PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE – One person from Winnipeg is dead after being hit by a semi-truck on the Trans-Canada Highway over the weekend.
It happened on Sunday just before 4 p.m. east of Portage la Prairie near Highway 13.
RCMP say a 31-year-old was walking along the highway and was struck. The pedestrian died on scene. The 68-year-old semi driver from Minnedosa was not injured.
Both eastbound lanes were closed for several hours while RCMP conducted their investigation.
It’s not known if any charges will be laid against the driver.
