LAKE MANITOBA FIRST NATION – Six people were seriously hurt in a violent fight that broke out early Sunday morning in northern Manitoba following a wedding social.
RCMP were called to the community at around 3:30 a.m. and found multiple victims including five men between the ages of 25 and 43 along with a 47 year old woman. All six are from Lake Manitoba First Nation.
STARS Air Ambulance confirmed its crews airlifted two people with ‘traumatic injuries’ to a Winnipeg hospital.
RCMP say several weapons were used in the brawl, but guns were not involved. Reports from within the community suggest some of the victims may have been stabbed.
Four suspects have been arrested, including three men between the ages of 22 and 47, along with a 31 year old woman.
All four are facing numerous assault and weapon charges.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what started the fight and say they “are working diligently to piece together the circumstances of the event.”
Lake Manitoba First Nation is about 175 km north of Winnipeg.
