Winnipeg – The Blue Bombers were still taking a cautious approach but if Tuesday’s first full practice of the week is any indication, running back Andrew Harris will return to the lineup on Saturday when the Bombers host the B.C. Lions. Harris has missed the last three games due to an ankle injury suffered in the Banjo Bowl against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He took most of the first team running back reps during Tuesday’s two-hour workout and when it was over, declared himself ready to go.
“It feels good. Still going to see how it responds tomorrow but it felt good today, felt normal. It’s been a slow process. After that first game I thought I would be able to come back right away. It didn’t progress the way I wanted it to but like I said today was a good today and we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.”
On the prospect of returning against his former team, the Lions, Harris said “This is definitely one that’s been circled on the calendar since the beginning of the season. But again I want to be smart about it, we got a lot more games left to play but this is a big one for us and I definitely want to play.”
The Blue bombers were also optimistic that receiver/kick returner Quincy McDuffie would return to the lineup. Linebacker Ian Wild sat out practice but should be ready to play against the Lions while defensive back Bruce Johnson was considered questionable.
